Not only bebop guitar madness but also guitar elegance is coming to the Old Pueblo Grill, 60 N. Alvernon Way, on Sunday, June 2, with the arrival of internationally acclaimed Joshua Breakstone.
“Fire in velvet” was one critic’s recent description of Breakstone’s playing.
The New York Times expanded on that thought, reporting how “Mr. Breakstone produces guitar lines that flow through smooth, mellow-toned, bop-based phrasing.....There is depth and thoughtfulness in his playing, a sense of graceful development even when he is swirling along with jumping intensity."
Hear Joshua Breakstone for yourself in two separate musical settings for one all-inclusive price of $10 per person.
At 7 p.m. Breakstone is joined by his touring bassist Earl Sauls and OPG impresario drummer Pete Swan to groove out on some of those applauded bebop adventures.
Then a second guitar super-set puts Breakstone in a throw-down with local jazz guitar giants Matt Mitchell and Ed Delucia. Talk about fire and ice…that would pretty much describe it.
For this very special performance with house concert rules, reserved seating will be available. For the second set, only the tables will have reserved seats.
