Since she was a little girl, Candace’s imaginary friends have guided her through her fears. Now 18, she feels these friendships are too juvenile to maintain and abandons them. Refusing to leave, they are forced to teach her that growing up means facing fears rather than running from them. IMAGINARY is a dark comedy exploring the theme that everyone has to grow up, eventually.
After a successful workshopping phase last summer at the Hangar Theatre Apprentice Program in Ithaca New York, IMAGINARY will receive its first, full production on the Etcetera stage at Live Theatre Workshop.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Jeffrey Peacock Jeffrey Peacock is a senior BFA Musical Theatre major at the University of Central Florida. He spent the summer as a resident playwright for the Hangar Theatre’s Lab Academy in Ithaca, NY. Jeffrey is a founding member of The Second Glance Theatre, a group dedicated to producing new plays and musicals. Two of Jeffrey's other plays, "But I Will See You Again..." and "Sharknado: The Musical?", have both been in workshops. "Imaginary" is his first play to be produced.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Ken Phillips (Co-Director) is thrilled to direct for Etcetera a second time. After directing PLAYING WITH FIRE (AFTER FRANKENSTEIN), he is thrilled to be directing and coordinating rewrites between the playwright and the cast for the world première of a show. Ken just recently graduated from the University of Arizona. For the past two summers he has been a Directing Intern at Powerhouse Theatre and the Hangar Theatre in New York. At the end of January, he will be heading to the Eugene O’Neill Center to be a part of their Advanced Directing Program. If you want to see more of his work, visit his website at kenphillips-theatrics.com. He would also like to thank Jeffrey, Cassy, Angela, Walley, and this wonderful cast for tackling this fun show.
Cassy Crandall (Co-Director) is a senior at the University of Arizona and will soon graduate with a BA in Theatre Arts and a Minor in Business. This is her first time co-directing an original play, and she is excited to be part of the project! She directed the very first student-produced staged reading on campus, and frequently mentors with different directors through the school program. Cassy would like to thank Kendall and Jeffrey for bringing her onboard, and the wonderful and talented cast for all of its hard work!
Rainey Hinrichs (Candace/Cian) is a senior at the University of Arizona and is excited to be working on this production. She will graduate in May and is planning on pursuing her career in theatre as well as becoming a teacher. Her most recent credits include Etcetera’s SHORT ATTENTION SPAN THEATRE and the University of Arizona’s FLATLAND and OUROBOROS. Rainey would like to thank her friends and family for all of their support throughout the years.
Cortney Radtke (April/Lucy) is a Junior at the University of Arizona pursuing a BA in Theatre Arts and minors in Film and Television and Business Marketing. This is her second performance with Etcetera, and she is overjoyed to have this opportunity to work with many of these actors for a second time. Cortney was previously seen in the University of Arizona’s production of FLATLAND.
Simon Ridley (Benedict) is excited to be working on IMAGINARY with so many of his best friends and a few of his favorite acquaintances. Some of Simon's other credits include Eisenring in THE ARSONISTS, Actor/Collaborator for SHORT ATTENTION SPAN THEATRE, and Head Writer/Assistant Director for FLATLAND.
Joshua Silvain (Jared/Claude) is a Tucson native. He studied theatre at Pima Community College where he appeared in FOOTLOOSE, THE CRUCIBLE, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, and THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE to name a few. Joshua also has experience as a stage manager, lighting designer, and sound designer. Joshua has worked around Tucson in original plays by local playwrights including John Vornholt’s THE FIRST THIRD and Warren G. Bodow’s FRONTING THE ORDER. He portrayed multiple roles in Beowulf Alley Theatre’s production of RADIUM GIRLS and most recently was onstage in Etcetera's PLAYING WITH FIRE (AFTER FRANKENSTEIN).
Gabriela Urias (Boo-Boo) is currently attending the University of Arizona for Theatre Arts and will be graduating in December of 2014. She has performed with The Gaslight Theatre, Borderlands Theatre Company, Arizona Theatre Company's Cafe Bohemia, and UA's Studio Series. Gabi is thrilled to help bring IMAGINARY to reality on the Etcetera stage.
