Subject: Audition for Winding Road's 14-15 Season!

Winding Road Theater Ensemble will be holding open auditions for their 2014-15 Season on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Auditions will take place in The Cabaret Theatre at The Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue. Roles are available for actors between the ages of 18-65 in the following productions:

MACBETH by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s swiftest tragedy tells the story of a brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne for himself. Wracked with guilt and paranoia, the bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of arrogance, madness, and death.

Directed by Matt Bowdren. Performing July 17-August 3, 2014 with rehearsals beginning in early June.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller

A painful examination of American life and consumerism, Miller's extraordinary masterpiece changed the course of modern theatre and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1949. In creating Willy Loman, his destructively insecure anti-hero, Miller himself defined his aim as being 'to set forth what happens when a man does not have a grip on the forces of life.'

Directed by Glen Coffman. Performing November 6-23, 2014 with rehearsals beginning in late September.

UNITED by Toni Press-Coffman

UNITED explores the lives of the passengers and crew members of United Flight 93, who came together on September 11, 2001 in an attempt to take back the plane from terrorists and saved the lives of an incalculable number of people. We meet each person through scenes on and off the plane as we accompany an adopted woman who believes one of her birth parents died onboard.

Directed by Christopher Johnson. Performing February 5-22, 2015 with rehearsals beginning in early December.

THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s play filled with music, drama and illusion in which the action moves from the chaos of the eponymous storm to the creation of a new order, from retribution to reconciliation, and from exile to reunion in fantastical fashion.

Directed by Glen Coffman. Performing April 16-May 2, 2015 with rehearsals beginning in early March.

ROUGH MAGIC by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa

Set 500 years after the events of THE TEMPEST, ROUGH MAGIC presents a Caliban that has escaped Prospero’s island and is on the run from his sadistic and powerful master. He finds himself in modern-day New York where he joins forces with a dramaturg with magical powers and a love-struck lifeguard who might just be the child warrior fated to save the world.

Directed by Evan Werner. Performing April 23-May 10, 2015 with rehearsals beginning in early March.
