Tucson, Arizona--Pima Community College Chorale & College Singers, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Ng, present the spring semester concert featuring the Chorale singing two folk songs “Barbara Allen” by Linda S. Spevacek and “The Water is Wide” by Mark Hayes. They will also perform two sacred pieces by French composers “Ave verum” by Camille Saint-Saëns and “The Death of David from King David” by Arthur Honegger; and beloved American songs by Stephen Foster—“A Stephen Foster Medley” arranged by Jon Washburn.  The College Singers present the Renaissance Tudor Anthems “If Ye Love Me” by Thomas Tallis and “Lord, For Thy Tender Mercy’s Sake” by Richard Farrant; and the English Madrigals “April is in My Mistress’ Face” and “Sing We and Chant It” by Thomas Morley. They will also sing chorale selections from the Baroque choral master piece “St. John Passion” by J. S. Bach and the spiritual “Ain’-a That Good News!” by William L. Dawson. Both choruses join to perform “Wir setzen uns mit Thränen nieder (We Sit Down with Tears)” from St. Matthew Passion (double-chorus setting) by J. S. Bach, and “Hallelujah Chorus” from Messiah by G. F. Handel.

Pima Community College Center for the Arts is located on the West Campus just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Rd, which turns into Anklam Rd. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to performance.

Please continue to run in print and online through March 11, 2013.
