Lysistrata has planned a meeting between all of the women of Greece to discuss her scheme to end the Peloponnesian War. As Lysistrata waits for the women of Sparta, Thebes, and other areas to meet her she curses the weakness of women. Lysistrata plans to ask the women to refuse sex with their husbands until a treaty for peace has been signed. The women from the various regions finally assemble and Lysistrata convinces them to swear an oath that they will withhold sex from their husbands until both sides sign a treaty of peace. The women seize the Akropolis later that day. As the women sacrifice bottles of wine to the Gods in celebration of their oath, they hear the sounds of their men marching toward the Acropolis. Will the plan work? Can the women hold out?

This production is not suitable for children. Actors will receive stipends.

Raucous, raunchy and hilarious, this text of Lysistrata was called a "sparkling, witty adaptation" by New York director Marshall Mason, the founder and former artistic director of Circle Repertory Theatre.

Performances will run March 8th through the 24th, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2:30PM, with a special preview performance at The Tucson Museum of Art's Art After Dark series on Thursday, March 7th in honor of International Women's Day and in conjunction with their exhibit Feminina, at 140 N. Main Avenue.
