AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is set on the plains of modern day, middle-class Oklahoma. The Weston family members are all intelligent, sensitive creatures who have the uncanny ability of making each other absolutely miserable. When the patriarch of the household mysteriously vanishes, the Weston clan gathers together to simultaneously hilarious and tragic effect.
Directed by Glen Coffman and featuring:
Maria Caprile, Tony Caprile, Michael Gifford, Alida Holguin Gunn, David Alexander Johnston, Avis Judd, Roger Owen, Peg Peterson, Toni Press-Coffman,
Morgan Smith, Jared Stokes, Brian Wees and China Young.
“I'd bet the farm that no family has ever been as unhappy in as many ways—and to such sensationally entertaining effect—as the Westons of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, a fraught, densely plotted saga of an Oklahoma clan in a state of near-apocalyptic meltdown. Fiercely funny and bitingly sad…[a] turbo-charged tragicomedy…” —NY Times
Tracy Letts is the author of the plays KILLER JOE, BUG, SUPERIOR DOUGHNUTS and MAN FROM NEBRASKA (named one of Time Magazine’s Top Ten Plays of 2003). His play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY was awarded the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He is an ensemble member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and appearances there include HOMEBODY/KABUL; THE DAZZLE; GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS; THREE DAYS OF RAIN, and PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE. Tracy rmade his directing debut at the Lookingglass Theatre with Glen Berger’s play GREAT MEN OF SCIENCE NOS 21 & 22.
Winding Road Theater Ensemble (Glen Coffman, Co-Artistic Director; Christopher Johnson, Co-Artistic Director; Toni Press-Coffman, Company Manager) is a group of artists whose mission is to tell dynamic, theatrical stories that illuminate the human condition and celebrate the theater’s power to entertain us, to move us, and to bring us joy. Inspired by the disparate creative journeys that eventually brought us together, WRTE has a special commitment to developing new work by living American playwrights. We fulfill our mission by producing seasons of contemporary and classic works representing diverse styles, themes, and perspectives; and by presenting readings, workshops, and full productions of new plays.
