Friends of Film in Arizona,

We’re thrilled that Sen. Al Melvin has decided to be our bill’s primary sponsor. He believes, like we do, that this is a jobs bill, and, being from Southern Arizona, he knows first hand the powerful impact this industry has had on our region.

Since 1925, the film industry has been coming to Arizona for its stunning vistas, charming locales, Western streets and out-of-this world scenery. Until the 1990’s, Arizona was, in fact, one of the top three destinations for production. Now, without an incentive program, Arizona is one of the bottom three. Over forty states – and dozens of countries – have film tax credits which they continue to renew because of their success in creating jobs and positive ROI.

Thanks to all of you who wrote to Sen. Melvin. Your letters were instrumental in his decision. He was impressed not only with the number and the quality of the letters but with the fact that they were original – not form letters. If you can, please take a moment to thank him for becoming the sponsor for the bill.

By the way, if you missed the KVOA segment on film incentives last week you can watch it here.
