Casting Call, PSAs "Rethink That" Campaign

Subject: Casting for Rethink That Campaign

 

Independent Film Arizona I will be shooting a series of Public Service Announcements promoting shooting films and advertising in Arizona.

 

The tag line is:  "If you are not thinking of shooting your next project in Arizona: Rethink That." 

 

If you are interested in being involved in the production of the Rethink That Campaign or are interested in acting in an individual PSA, please send an e-mail stating the role you are interested in with your name, email address, headshot, and resume to Antonella Cassia at  independentfilmarizona@gmail.com.

 

Individual PSAs concepts include: 

 

1.  Grand Canyon Variation 1 (Japanese Tourists).   Composite shots of the Grand Canyon, looking over the edge of the Grand Canyon, and then three [Japanese] tourists.  A male female couple is posing for a photo, the third tourist is taking a picture.  In Japanese [no subtitles] and with hand gestures, the photographer repeatedly pushes the posing couple back towards the edge.  The announcer says: "Not nearly as scary when you attempt to shoot it on a sound stage.  If you are not thinking of shooting your next motion picture in Arizona:  Rethink That."

 

2.  Horses and Cowboys.  Tight shots of cows in a herd.  "We've got the cows."  Tight shots of horses bucking and galloping.  "We've got the horses."  Tight shot of cowboys in a gunfight.  "We've got the cowboys."  Shot of a beautiful cowgirl walking out of saloon doors wearing suede cowgirl pants.  She ends the shot by slapping her own ass.  "We've got the suede britches."  The announcer says: If you are not planning on shooting your next movie in Arizona: [The beautiful cowgirl in suede britches says:]  "Rethink That."

 

3.  Jan Brewer.  If you are not thinking of shooting your next film in Arizona.  [Governor Brewer close up with famous finger wag.] "Rethink That."

 

4.  Prostitutes.  Playing off of the wide variety of locations that subsidize film projects with tax incentives.  A series of shots of different prostitutes on the side of the road aggressively yelling at cars saying: Come here.  Come here baby.  Come on over sweetie.  Then the announcer [a sweet looking innocent woman] says: "If they have to pay you to shoot off of their curb -- are they really the best location for your film?  If you are not thinking of shooting your next project in Arizona: Rethink That." 

 

5.  Rain Variation.  [Shot of Arizona Sunshine] Arizona has only 8.3 inches of rain per year.  We are the lowest in the nation [per National Weather Service.]  Title:  When losing a day of shooting to rain will cost you tens of thousands of dollars -- [cut to shots of film crews attempting to work in the rain] Albuquerque 9.45 inches, Los Angeles 14.93 inches, Portland 39.14 inches, and New York 44.73 inches]  --  ever drop counts.  If you are not thinking of shooting your next motion picture in Arizona  -- Rethink That. [Convert inches to days.]

 

6.  Real Indians.  A series of portraits on Arizona Native American Chiefs with titles below.  The last one says:  Real Indians.  The announcer then says: If you are not thinking about shooting your next Cowboy and Indian flick in Arizona:  Rethink That.

 

7.  Alfred Hitchcock. Subject to obtaining rights.  Open with a clip from Psycho with the protagonist driving out of downtown Phoenix.  If you are not planning on shooting your next suspense drama in Arizona:  Rethink That. 

 

8.  John Ford. Subject to obtaining rights.  Open with a shot from a John Ford Arizona Western.  If you are not planning on setting the horizon for your next project in Arizona:  Rethink That. 

 

9.  Steven Spielberg.  Subject to obtaining rights. Shot of the ocean and a shark's dorsal fin circling the boat.  Stephen Spielberg didn't shoot his first movie in the waters off of Martha's Vineyard.  Cut to shot of Scottsdale.  He shot his first movie in Scottsdale, Arizona.   If you are not planning on shooting your next project in Arizona:  Rethink That.

 

10.  [One] Thousand Arizona Actors.  A sequence of close ups, cutting to wider shots, then to a wide shot of a large crowd of [one] thousand Arizona actors.  The announcer says:  "If you are not thinking of shooting your next motion picture in Arizona:  [One] Thousand Arizona Actors Are Telling You to] . . . [ the full crowd shouts]: "Rethink That."

 

11.  Monument Valley Variation 1 .  Shots of Monument Valley.   Then add title:  Can't build that on a sound stage.  Cut to:  If you are not thinking of shooting your next motion picture in Arizona: Rethink That. 

 

12.  Grand Canyon Variation 2.   Parallel to Monument Valley, except substituting the Grand Canyon for Monument Valley.

 

13.  Saguaro National Park Variation 1.  Parallel to Monument Valley, except substituting Saguaro National Park for Monument Valley. [The Park is a 15 minute drive from Downtown Tucson.]

 

14.  The Colorado River Variation 1.  Parallel to Monument Valley, except substituting rushing white water from Colorado River for Monument Valley.

 

15.  Monument Valley/Grand Canyon/ Saguaro National Park/Colorado River Composite.   Composite of shots of Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Saguaro National Park, and the Colorado River.   Then add title:  Can't build that on a sound stage.  Cut to:  If you are not thinking of shooting your next motion picture in Arizona: Rethink That.

 

16.  Saguaro National Park Variation 2.  The opening scene is a technician creating a fake saguaro cactus.  "There looks like the real thing."  but it doesn't.  Cut to either:  Fabricating Saguaro Cactus can cost over [$2,000] per succulent.   If you are not thinking shooting your next motion picture in Arizona: Rethink That."

 

17. Political Celebrity Variation.  Single political spokesmen which could be compiled into series of political spokesmen can be added saying Rethink That.  Mayor of Phoenix.  Mayor of Tucson. Mayor of Flagstaff. Chief of the Navaho Nation.  The Arizona Legislature.
