CORRECTION: OPENING TONIGHT, The Mystery Genius of Sherlock Holmes III at The Comedy Playhouse

Kindly correct the email that went out regarding The Mystery Genius of Sherlock Holmes III.  It opens on March 14 (tonight) and runs through March 22 at The Comedy Playhouse.  Performances are:  Friday, 3/14 and Saturday 3/15 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, 3/16 at 3 pm.  The following week, performances are: Friday, 3/21 and Saturday 3/22 at 7:30 pm.

Let’s Kill Grampa!

Opens March 27

 

  Grampa Daggot died five years ago.  The Daggot family never informed Social Security about Grampa’s death, and Grampa’s Social Security checks just kept coming.  Now, they’ve discovered that Grampa had a life insurance policy for $250,000.  So….Let’s Kill Grampa!

  Tucson playwright, Peré Summers has written another funny play.  Last year, The Comedy Playhouse brought you A Pain in the Aunt.  Peré has a knack of creating quirky family situation that are sure to make you smile. You might even recognize someone you know!

  Let’s Kill Grampa! stars Comedy Playhouse favorites Paul Hammack, Nell Summers and Callie Hutchinson.

  Let’s Kill Grampa! opens March 27th  and continues through May 4th.  Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm.  Admission is $18.00 with discounts available for seniors and students.

    The Comedy Playhouse is located at 3620 N. 1st Avenue at the northeast corner of 1st Avenue and Prince Road.  The Comedy Playhouse has lit, adjacent parking.   Let’s Kill Grampa! is appropriate for ages eight and up.

Of Sherlock Holmes III

Opens Continues Thru March 14th

    In November 1887, Beenton’s  Christmas Annual, a paperback magazine, contained a novel by Arthur Conan Doyle entitled A Study in Scarlet. Thus, the world was introduced to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.  A second novel, The Sign of Four, appeared in 1890. In 1891, the short story A Scandal in Bohemia, was released in The Strand Magazine.  By 1927, Doyle has published four novels and fifty-six short stories.

  Doyle based the character of Sherlock Holmes on Dr. Joseph Bell.  Dr. Bell was surgeon for whom Doyle had once worked as a clerk.  Dr. Bell was noted for drawing conclusion from minute observations. Doyle dedicated his first collection of Holmes short stores, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes to Dr. Bell.  In a letter to Dr. Bell, he wrote, “You are Sherlock Holmes and you know it.”

   Starring in The Mystery Genius of Sherlock Holmes III are Drew, Kallen, Paul Hammack, Lois Lederman and Bruce Bieszki.

   Admission to The Mystery Genius of Sherlock Holmes III is $12, with discounts available.
