March Radness is this Saturday, March 8 (get your tickets now!), so we're going to give you a taste of what to expect from the stellar lineup of bands here on The Range between now and then.
PigPen Theatre Company sounds like a super-pretentious band name until you realize that they're not just a band (and a good one), but an actual theater company, notable enough to make it into the New York Times for their performance at a Fringe Festival there. However, even as as part of a second line of work as musicians, their album Bremen, which emerged from a storytelling project, holds up on its own with a indie-folkish twee sound that would appeal to fans of Mumford and Sons or the Decemberists. Their new EP, The Way I'm Running, includes the track, "Crash," which you can watch/listen to above. The group's big harmonies and upbeat charm will likely delight anyone who stumbles upon them Saturday night.
See them and a bunch of bands (Sir Mix-A-Lot! Pinback! Murs!) on March 8 at March Radness, presented by the Tucson Weekly!
